We keep your lifting equipment safe and operational
At Bramley Engineering we understand that equipment downtime can be costly to any well-run organisation. That’s why whenever possible we can replace failed lifting equipment there and then, or carry out minor repairs whilst on your site to enable you to continue your operation as quickly as possible.
Or in other cases where a more comprehensive fix is required, we can take failed equipment away with us for repair and have it returned to you as quickly as possible, usually in a couple of days (depending on the magnitude of the repairs).
As part of our inspection process, we will also investigate recurring defects on your behalf for root cause analysis. This will allow us to identify the offending lifting procedure or operation that is causing a repeated failure of a particular piece of equipment. We can then advise on an alternative lifting solution, equipment, or technique to prevent repeat failures in the future saving you time and money in the long run.

LOLER Inspections FAQ’s
Are looking for some more information about what a LOLER Inspection is, who is required to do it, and how they are carried out? We understand that it can be difficult to understand the regulations and requirements around LOLER inspections, so we’ve outlined the key points around LOLER inspections for you.
What is a LOLER Inspection?
LOLER stands for Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 and is the UK regulation that covers the regular inspection of lifting equipment used in a workplace environment and public locations. It is required by law (as a minimum) every 12 months for cranes and every 6 months for lifting accessories and height safety equipment. LOLER Inspections are to be carried out by a competent person who is independent and impartial. They consist of a thorough and detailed examination of the lifting equipment assessing how and where the equipment will be used, the age of the equipment and frequency of use. Strict record keeping is also required by the duty holder of the LOLER Inspections to keep a record of all checks and advised faults and to remedy these faults appropriately.
Who can carry out LOLER Inspections?
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998″ (or LOLER) requires LOLER inspections to be carried out by a competent person, who is both independent and impartial. For many companies, this means bringing in an external party to ensure the person inspecting the equipment is not responsible for the operation or management of the equipment. This is because the operator may be more likely to pass unsafe equipment in order to continue operating the equipment.
Who needs to conduct LOLER Inspections?
If you use lifting equipment to lift people or loads in a workplace environment, then you are legally required to carry out regular and thorough examinations of your lifting equipment as per the “Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998” (or LOLER). Lifting equpiment can include cranes, hoists, chain slings, shackles, and web slings as well as all other types of lifting accessories.
Who is the "duty holder" (responsible person) for LOLER Inspections?
If you are the owner of the lifting systems, or responsible for their safe operation (such as a site manager or supervisor), then you are the “duty holder” under LOLER. This means you have the responsibility to ensure your lifting equipment is safe to operate and at is inspected at the required intervals by a LOLER inspector.
